From the time I was a child on my grandparents' farm in Germany, I’ve always felt a deep connection to animals. That early bond led me to study animal behavior and become a certified LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) Principles dog trainer in the United States. But as I worked one-on-one with dog owners and immersed myself in the world of dog welfare, I started noticing a troubling pattern.
Too often, dog training is seen as overwhelming, expensive, or even an afterthought. Yet, it’s absolutely critical for building the kind of bond that keeps dogs and their owners together in forever homes. When training is overlooked or inaccessible, it’s the dogs who suffer—and the owners who feel lost.
At TEDDY, my mission is to change that. I’ve made it my goal to ensure that every dog owner has access to the education and resources they need to feel confident and capable in their training journey. Training shouldn’t be a burden; it should be an empowering experience that strengthens the bond between dogs and their humans.
Because here’s the truth: People need dogs, and dogs need people. It’s that simple, and it’s what drives everything we do at TEDDY.
